(Q)SPI Flash Evaluator
The evaluation board for SPI and QSPI flash-memory devices

Overview
The (Q)SPI Flash Evaluator is an easy-to-use evaluation board for testing the features and performance of NOR and NAND emFile drivers. A powerful tool, it enables users to assess the performance and compatibility of SPI and QSPI flash-memory devices, as well as carry out simplified flash-memory testing. Users gain detailed insights that foster efficient development and reliable system performance.
Key features
The (Q)SPI Flash Evaluator enables developers to benchmark read, write, and erase speeds, allowing them to optimize speeds for embedded applications. With an intuitive setup, the evaluation process can be completed in 15 minutes or less, which translates to significantly reduced time and effort in selecting the right (Q)SPI flash for any project.
Seamless integration
The (Q)SPI Flash Evaluator works with SEGGER's product ecosystem (including J-Link debug probes and Flasher production programmers) for streamlined testing and development.
Flexible compatibility
With support for multiple package types, including SO-8, SO-16, BGA, and SON, the (Q)SPI Flash Evaluator is compatible with a wide range of flash memories.
How the (Q)SPI Flash Evaluator works
The SEGGER (Q)SPI Flash Evaluator streamlines flash memory evaluation by providing a modular and efficient testing environment. Ready to use out of the box, it is assembled with an adapter board that is populated with the ISSI IS25LPO64D flash chip. Furthermore, it supports a wide range of SPI and QSPI flash devices.
By connecting a programmer directly to the SPI interface, users can evaluate the direct-programming capabilities. Alternatively, connecting the programmer to a microcontroller enables testing of indirect programming, while the evaluator allows confirmation of flash driver performance through comparison with SEGGER’s emFile NOR flash driver. The (Q)SPI Flash Evaluator supports a wide range of SPI and QSPI flash devices, allowing developers to test direct and indirect programming of different memory solutions for their embedded applications.
Evaluation software
The (Q)SPI Flash Evaluator is available through the SEGGER Web Shop. It comes with a pre-configured emPower OS package and SEGGER's Friendly License (SFL), which allows use for evaluation and non-commercial purposes. With the license, users receive full functionality with no technical limitations. All emPower OS components that can be used on an evaluation board are included, along with applicable driver packages—pre-built for the setup. The various components and supported features are detailed in the table below.
